The Molteni & C Living Box by Vincent van Duysen was conceived as an independent item of furniture, usable in any room of the house, but mainly suitable for the living room.
Living Box is a low, but large (230cm, 280cm, 330cm or 380cm wide) doorless rectangular sideboard in which the outside and inside contrast with each other via the use of different materials. The frame is finished in either Eucalyptus or a lovely new Sunrise Oak finish which is a very light shade skilfully achieved by Molteni's expert cabinet makers and further enhanced the way the wood is irregularly brushed according to a time-honoured process reinvented in a modern style.
The top can be selected in the same woods or several stunning marble options. The whole piece is then enclosed within an iris or pewter frame, thin and thread-like if seen from above, but forming a thick profile surrounding if seen from the front.
The inside space recalls a “magical cave” devoid of sharp corners thanks to special curved corner-covers. To accentuate the internal space you can add LED lighting as well as elegant stand-alone drawer sets in a range of finishes, or tape fronted containers enabling you to easily activate your set top box, hifi, or games console. It is also possible to fit integrated trunking useful for facilitating connections of any kind between multimedia equipment, TVs or lighting equipment.
Living Box is perfect against a wall as a traditional sideboard or storage unit, or it can be positioned anywhere in a room to create a useful partition or room divider. It can even be wall mounted if required.
With four sizes available and lots of different finish options for ease we have priced the smallest standard unit (not shown), as well as a larger piece seen in the main image in Eucalyptus with an iris frame and a Sahara Noir marble top.
