The Molteni &C Palinfrasca corner sofa is part of the Palinfrasca Landmark collection of garden sofas, armchairs, love seats, daybeds and modular elements all of which have an iconic rounded shape which takes its inspiration from the designer and architect, Luca Meda.
Based on a piece that Meda created for Molteni in 1994, current designer Vincent Van Duysen has put together a unique collection of garden furniture which combines beautiful solid teak rich in refined cabinet-making details with a highly distinctive woven warp and weft motif.
Every piece in the Palinfrasca range have a gently curving frame made from natural teak which is intricately woven in either teak or olive green EVA polyurethane, a pliable yet non-deformable weather resistant material with an appearance reminiscent of leather. Deep, generous cushions give an air of abundance, softness and richness, whilst the seat cushion in moulded polyurethane with variable densities provides maximum support, for immersive comfort.
Removable cushion covers are in outdoor, draining and weather-resistant fabrics which can be selected in several categories including the Musco collection which was developed in collaboration with Limonta Spa and selected by Marta Ferri. Musco offers seven different monochrome or striped jacquard and bouclé yarns inspired by shades of nature which can be combined to match or contrast each other.
We have priced two corner sofas, Composition 1 (see detailed images) is 299cm wide and consists of a sofa end module and a chaise longue module, whilst the larger corner sofa Composition 2 (main image) is 356cm wide and is made up of two sofa end modules and one chaise longue. For correct ergonomics Molteni suggest that you add between 5-8 seat back cushions and 3-7 lumbar cushions to these sofas.
Garden furniture is an exciting new addition to prestigious Italian modern furniture brand Molteni&C’s extensive collection and is only possible after years of research into suitable materials: a knowledge gained in the almost ninety years of the life of the company which was founded in 1934.
